What is Tui Na massage?

The term ‘Tui Na’ (pronounced “twee naw”), which literally means “pinch and pull,” refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic massage and body work.  In some circumstances, I will use Tui Na massage as an alternative to acupuncture.

Is it painful?

While it is often quite painful, many patients find the sessions relaxing. This type of massage uses a variety or massage techniques from very light to very strong.   I can use Tui Na massage  for an ‘all over’ body-massage or to target specific areas.  The main benefits will be after the session. I get consistent good feedback! Please see some of the testimonials.

There is often a discomfort during the treatment as I remove stubborn knots. The benefits will mostly be felt after the treatment.

What do you use Tui Na for?

Tui Na is very effective to relieve multiple disorders, but it is particularly good for musculoskeletal problems such as general neck or back pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, etc.  But it is also very effective for internal problems such as gynaecological, digestive, respiratory or even for emotional issues.

Cupping and Gua Sha (a kind of skin scrapping technique – sounds worst than it is!) may also be used to strongly invigorate blood flow, eliminate toxins and stop pain. Again, this is very effective for musculoskeletal issues but I have also used this method very effectively for internal disorders such as IBS and ulcerative colitis.

How much is a session?

  • 60 mins: £80
  • 30 mins: £55
